Have you ever thought “I am coding the same procedure from program A and putting it in program B” and wondered why you did that? Have you ever came across code that you need change and find that it’s in multiple places? Did you know that examples like this qualify to be moved into one central location, easily added to or changed? That, Ladies and Gentlemen, is called utility programs. We will be looking at how utility programs are created and what you can do to identify blocks of code you can change and create your own utility programs. Additionally we will look at other open source utility programs that are out there. And lastly, we will discuss how you can start unit testing your RPG programs and why it is a good idea.
